Pixie showed up for her first flyball class as a puppy... But what a smart puppy she was. She picked up the game so quickly that the other members of the class were growing discouraged not understanding why their dogs were not "getting it" as fast. The instructor reassured them all by explaining "Pixie is a Sheltie. To train a Sheltie you just give them the book to take home and read"
Pixie debuted in flyball two days shy of her first birthday. Because of the closeness of her birthday she received special permission from the judge. That was ten years ago. In those ten years she has been a steady height dog bringing down the jumps so the big dogs can go fast. For many years she was Atomic Dogs main height dog allowing the rest of the team to play. She is a beauty to behold in the ring with all her fur flying. She has enjoyed the special time in the ring being "Bob's very good girl" playing for the praise and the little bit of hot dog. She also enjoys training green dogs on side by side running and introducing them to passing. Her career is winding down now, but she still gets in the ring and runs her heart out if the team needs her. She aspires to travel the country site-seeing with her people once her people retire... and if there is a flyball tournament with a pick up team or a vets team to run in she'll be looking to join the fun.
